Farmácia Ribeiro Lopes has been serving Lagos from Rua Garrett for well over a century - the pharmacy counts more than 125 years of continuous service. It sits inside the old town, a short walk from Praça Gil Eanes, and opens every day of the week. The technical director is Elsa de Sousa.
The pharmacy handles the situations travellers most often run into. Prescriptions issued by online or travel doctors can be sent to the pharmacy by email and dispensed on the spot, and the counter is used to working in English. Visitors who have been injured on holiday will find that crutches and similar equipment can be ordered in.
Alongside the dispensary, Ribeiro Lopes offers home delivery, health check-ups and vaccine administration.
Being one of the longest-serving pharmacies in the old town, it is a familiar reference for residents as well — and, like every pharmacy in the county, it takes its turn on the night duty rota.
